Johnnie Auter Downing, 72, of Tallahassee, Florida, passed away on Thursday, July 16, 2020, at Tallahassee Memorial HealthCare.
A daughter of the late John Pearse Auter, Sr. and the late Lola James Roberts Auter she was born in Vicksburg, Mississippi on July 31, 1947. She is also preceded in death by a brother, John Pearse Auter, Jr.
A dedicated homemaker, she was also employed as a Secretary at NASA, Department Secretary in the Radiology Department at Tallahassee Memorial HealthCare and also worked at Tall Timbers Research Station. She was a member of Tallahassee Bible Church and enjoyed quilting, sewing, traveling, antiquing and crafts.
She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Lawrence Edward Downing, Sr.; son, Lawrence Edward Downing, Jr. (wife, Rebecca); daughter, Catherine Elaine Downing Wolf (husband, Peter); grandson, Brandon Wolf; brothers, James Auter (wife, Nancy), Chris Auter (fiancé, Stacey Crawford); sister, Barbara Dial (husband, Alan); half-sister, Patsy Martin; sister-in-law, Deborah Ann Auter; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
