Mrs. Barrett was born January 5, 1933 in Waterbury, oldest child of the late Frederick J. and Florence J. (Pierce) O’Brien. Raised in Waterbury, Joan attended local schools and was a graduate of Leavenworth High School, class of 1950. She married her high school sweetheart in 1952 and often remarked that God gave them their early years together, as John predeceased her 21 years ago.
She is survived by one son, Bruce J.
