Joan Caroline Blethen Austin of Bristol entered into God’s loving arms on Tuesday, June 29, 2010 after a long and courageous battle with Alzheimer’s. Born on April 30, 1936 she was the daughter of the late Everett and Hazel Blethen. She was the beloved wife of 47 years of the late Bernard Austin. In addition, she is predeceased by four brothers and a sister.
Beloved mother, mother-in-law, aunt, great aunt, grandmother and great grandmother, she is survived by her daughters and their spouses, Wendie and Brian Morin of Terryville, CT and Loriann and Robert Ericson of Harwinton, CT. Her grandchildren, Jamie, Jeremy, Brandon, Mercedes, Amanda, Brittany, Samantha and Dee. Her great grandchildren, Madisyn, Shania and Lilly along with several nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
Her journey to heaven will be safely guided by her loving and faithful companion as well as best friend, her dog Samantha.
She was a loving and devoted mother to her daughters and will forever be remembered in their hearts. May God hold her in his arms and the angels shelter her beneath their wings.
The family would like to thank the staff of Bristol Hospital Hospice for all of their kindness and support. You hold a special place in our hearts.
The family would also like to thank God for blessing us and our mother with her good friend and companion, Joyce Riley. God most certainly sent us an angel when Joyce entered our lives.
Thank you God for answering our prayers. You graciously answered each and every one. We prayed for one more day and for her to never forget us or how much we loved her. When we prayed for you to lead her home you did. She will be sadly missed by her family May her soul rest in peace
