Jean E. Avakian, nee Haag, 93, Passed away in Ozark, Mo. Formerly of Palos Heights. Beloved wife of the Late Vaughn A. “Doc” Avakian M.D. Dear Mother of David ( Eileen ), Janel ( Ronald ) & Darice ( Dale ) Augustson. Grandmother of 7, Great Grandmother of 16. Jean was dedicated to Christ and her family. She served her church in innumerable ways, from missions to music.
She was President of the Illinois Methodist Women’s Society and served in “Each One Teach One” language teaching programs, among others. She fed her family physically, emotionally and spiritually and created a home that welcomed everyone. Jean, a pianist and harpist and harp teacher, is also remembered for her many performances in Chicago area churches, the Southwest Symphony and special events at Soldier Field.
