Mrs. Ida P. Wakeling, 100, long time resident of Fairfield, beloved wife of the late Harry C. Wakeling, passed away at Lord Chamberlain Manor on Tuesday, December 7th. Daughter of the late William Patterson and Ida May Pickett she was born on May 5, 1910 in Long Reach, New Brunswick, Canada. She worked for many years as a Registered Nurse after obtaining her degree in 1933 from the Bridgeport Hospital School of Nursing.
Ida is survived by her daughter, Sarah L. “Sally” White of Orange, five grandchildren Scott Wakeling, Cynthia Deem and her husband Randall, Susan Leaser and her husband Michael, Darcy Wakeling, and Tyler White and his wife Allison; six great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews, and her special friend Niora Smith. Ida is predeceased by five brothers, Alban, Lloyd, Fred, Gordon and Freeman Patterson, one sister Helen Reagan, and her son William L. Wakeling.
