  • Date Of Death: June 30, 2016

Herta Ruth Sanders passed away June 30, 2016, at the age of 90 of natural causes. She was born in Annawalde, Germany in 1925 in a region known as East Prussia. She lost her parents in World War II and narrowly evaded capture by incoming Russian troops. She married an American soldier in 1949. After proudly becoming an American citizen, she was graduated from nursing school in Long Beach, California in 1953. A member of a local Baptist church, Herta was a wonderful Christian lady who daily offered her gifts of encouragement and hospitality to everyone. An American patriot to the end, she vigorously extolled the virtues of her beloved America. Her benevolent spirit also extended to all animals, many of which had better lives because of her tender heart. She was a devoted wife to her husband, C.W. Sanders, who preceded her in death after 61 years of marriage. She was also preceded in death by her four brothers and three sisters. Her only child, Jerry Sanders (wife, Sylvia), who has resided in Tallahassee since retiring from the U.S. Air Force in 1999, attributed his accomplishments to the fervent prayers of his dear mother. In addition to her son, she is also survived by her beloved grandsons, David Sanders (wife, Krista) and Jason Sanders, also of Tallahassee. She trusted her soul to God’s care and will be laid to rest beside her loving husband at a family cemetery in Georgia.
