Goldie Mae White, affectionately known to family and friends as “Mickey,” was born to Richard and Leona White in Hopkinsville, (Christian County) Kentucky on January 29, 1940.  She was educated in the Christian County Schools and attended Crispus Attucks High School. 

After completing her education, she relocated to Indianapolis, Indiana where she was united in marriage to Nathaniel Hopkins, Jr. in October of 1960.  To this union, three children were born: Judi, Candace, and Nathaniel, III.

In 1974, she was employed by Indianapolis Public Schools as a school bus driver and remained there until her official retirement in 2008.
