Mrs. Gertrude Moon Wadkins
Mrs. Gertrude “Granny Gert” Moon Wadkins, age 82, of Valley, Alabama passed away on Wednesday, August 1st, 2018 at the LaFayette Extended Care in LaFayette, Alabama.
Mrs. Wadkins was born on June 21st, 1936 in Chambers County, Alabama to the late Woodrow Wilson Moon and Grace Moon. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Deborah Sue Brown and her brother, Billy Moon.
After working in the textile mills, Mrs. Wadkins worked as a waitress for several years in the Valley area restaurants including Sue’s Chic Café, the Triangle Restaurant, Carey’s Catfish, and Barnes Restaurant.
She was an avid Atlanta Braves fan and an avid University of Alabama football fan. She enjoyed working in the yard and working crossword puzzles in her spare time.
She enjoyed spending time with the many children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great great-grandchildren, and extended family that she loved dearly. One of her favorite things to do was getting dressed up and going out for dinner or an outing with family or friends.
She is survived by her granddaughters, Melissa (Larry) Crane, Kathy Ogle, Gina (Joseph) Moore; great-grandchildren, Tsali Hull, Emma Crane, Lindsey Ogle, Alaya Moore, Tessa Moore, Michael Moore; great great-grandson, Braylon Cole.
