Florine Marie Woods Tarpley Muse, 90, went to be with the Lord on July 28, 2019, in Lenior, NC.
She was born June 10, 1929, in Gadsden, Alabama. As a young girl she lived in Carrollton, Georgia with her three siblings; Faye, Marie and Tyrone. Her parents were Cecil and Bertha Woods. Florine’s first marriage was to Jack Donald Tarpley who worked at General Motors in Doraville, Georgia for 26 years. They had three sons. Upon Jack’s death, Florine moved to Rome, Georgia to be near her family.
In 1978 she married Daniel Davis Muse of Rome, Georgia. Dan retired from Inland Paper Company. After retirement, Daniel and Florine moved to Summerville, Georgia after building their new home.
In addition to her parents, Florine was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel Davis Muse; her youngest son, Michael Durran Tarpley from Jacksonville, Florida; and a step-daughter, Linda Brewer of Rome, GA.
Florine is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Steve and Marsha Tarpley from Lenoir, North Carolina, Randy and Deborah Tarpley from Waycross, Georgia; step-sons, Mark and Lisa Brewer from Rome, Georgia, Davis and Susan Muse from Cumming, Georgia, Danny and Karen Muse from Woodstock, Georgia; a brother and sister-in-law, Calvin “Tyrone” and Gwen Woods from Centre, Alabama; her daughter-in-law, Marilyn Tarpley, wife of Michael Durran Tarpley from Jacksonville, Florida; 16 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren.
