Mrs. Evelyn Stephens, age 85 formerly of Orange, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 13, 2010 at Connecticut Hospice, Branford. She was the beloved wife of the late Rudolph A. Stephens.
She was born on August 28, 1924 in Brooklyn, NY. She was the daughter of the late Henry Engesser and Clara Flach Engessser. Evelyn served with pride and honor during World War II as a staff Sergeant in the United States Army. She was also a past president of the American Legion Post 127 in Orange.
Survivors include her cherished children Janice C. Provost and her husband Robert of Northford, John R. Stephens and his wife Rosanne of Henderson, NV, three loving grandchildren, Mark Stephens, Jeffrey and Lindsay Provost. She is also survived by a sister-in-law Pearl Dougherty and two nieces, Kathy and Barbara.
