Elizabeth ‘Beth’ Belton, 85, of Tallahassee Florida, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away on July 20th, 2017. She was born on April 25, 1932, in Rhodhiss NC, to the late Reverend Waldo and Eleanor Early. She was preceded in death by her brother Dwight, her husband Calvin, and her son Chris. She is survived by her sister Jane Kaleel, three remaining children and four grandchildren: Mark (Debbie and grandchildren Tyler, Travis, Trevor, and Tiffany), Joan Kinsey, Carlyle (Paula) and numerous nieces and nephews.

Beth became a Christian at the age of five, and was baptized by her daddy the old fashioned way – in a pond. She grew up in North Carolina, and graduated high school as valedictorian of her Samson county school. While attending junior college, she met Calvin. They married in 1953, had four children, and then moved to Tallahassee in 1960.

Beth and Calvin helped start Faith Baptist Church, where Beth was the church secretary and pianist. After about 10 years, they moved to First Baptist Church. Beth then became the receptionist at First Baptist, and anyone calling heard her cheerful voice.

Beth was always one of the sweetest people on earth. In fact the sailboat that she and Calvin had for a few years was named Sweet Beth. She was always kind and loving. She never had a cross word with anyone. She was incredibly giving of her time, talents, and money. Since she loved music, helping with the children’s choirs and singing in the sanctuary and First Joy choirs at First Baptist were all part of her ministry. She also gave back by playing piano or ‘singing out’ with the First Joy choir at nursing homes around town.
