Edith Moore (Powell) Prevatte passed into the hands of God on Monday, April 5, 2021, at the Big Bend Hospice House, surrounded by loved ones. Born in Baker County, Georgia, on March 13, 1930, she was a daughter of John Clifton Moore and Stella Jones Moore, of blessed memory.
Preceding her in death are her husbands, H. Gordon Powell and Myron R. Prevatte; siblings, Andrew Clifton Moore, Elizabeth Moore Manley, Thermon Ernest Moore and Charles Albert Moore and great-granddaughter, Madison Sophia Powell. Keeping her memory and legacy alive are her children, Michael G. Powell (wife, Donna), Richard A. Powell (wife, Donna), Lynne P. Byrd (husband, Jeff), John A. Powell (wife, Lisa) and Leigh P. Fuduloff (husband, Mike); grandchildren, Scott Powell, Mark Powell (wife, Susan), Andrea C. Webb (husband, Keith), Jared A. Powell (wife, Kelly), L. Brooke Fritz, Joshua W. Fritz (wife, Jules), Justin A. Powell, Ryan A. Powell (wife, Morgan), Mychal T. Fuduloff and Matthew L. Fuduloff; great-grandchildren, Madison “Madi” Rolfe, Leah Powell, Grant Powell, Landon Powell, Ayden Webb, Spencer Webb, Alice Powell, Henry Powell, Julian Fritz, Jozi Fritz, Jaiah Fritz, Aulbrey Piles, and Olivia Powell; siblings, Mildred Nina “Polly” Moore Gay, Huey A. Moore, Herman E. Moore and James W. Moore; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Most often known as “Edie” or “Miss E” throughout her life in both Pelham and Whigham, Georgia, Edith had such a zest for life, and a smile for everyone!
She was an active member and served in the choir at Hand Memorial United Methodist Church in Pelham for nearly 50 years, then continued her worship and activities at Whigham United Methodist Church in Whigham. She owned and operated Cottage Flower Shop in Pelham, Georgia for over twenty-five years, was a member of The Pelham Garden Club, the Pelham Chamber of Commerce, the Southwest Georgia Florists Association, and a past member of the Jr. Woman’s Club of Pelham. She never met a stranger and was beloved by all who knew her. The world has lost a true light here on Earth, but we all know she is shining brightly in Heaven above.
