Dorothy Helen Allen, 89, of Tallahassee, passed away on Friday, March 16, 2018. A daughter of the late James Patrick Dwyer and the late Martyne Ruth McMonigle Dwyer, she was born November 10, 1928, in Chicago, Illinois. Also preceding her in death are her siblings, Kevin (Elaine) Dwyer, Robert Dwyer, Sr. and Martyne (Rei) Jokela. She was a retired accountant with the State of Florida and a faithful member at Saint Paul’s United Methodist Church, where she taught Children’s Sunday School for many years. In her earlier years, she enjoyed painting and riding horses. She was also an avid reader. She is survived by her husband, James H. Allen, Jr.; children, Patrick James Allen and Nancy Allen Harrison; grandchildren, Jessica Green, Hensley Harrison, Joshua Manis, Mary Lyda Harrison and Kristie Manis. She is also survived by her siblings, James Patrick Dwyer, Thomas (Betty) Dwyer and Frank McMonigle; and a sister-in-law, Mary Dwyer.
