Dorothy Ann Hawks, 79, of Tallahassee, entered God’s eternal rest on December 7, 2020, at Tallahassee Memorial HealthCare. A daughter of the late Dennis E. Hamilton and Margaret Ann Freeman Hamilton, she was born in Fort Lauderdale on February 27, 1941. In 1959, Dorothy graduated from Stranahan High School in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. She received her three-year nursing diploma from Jackson Memorial Hospital and began working at Broward General Hospital and Holy Cross Hospital as a traveling nurse.

After two years, as an army medical corps man, Ron Hawks, returned home to work at the same hospital, re-united with Dorothy and two years later on December 20, 1966, they were married. Ron and Dorothy were married for 53 years and had five kids and 15 grandchildren. Dorothy earned her Bachelor of Nursing Degree at the University of Florida. And later, on June 11, 1977, she earned a law degree at the University of Florida. Dorothy had a private law practice, taught Real Estate Law at Santa Fe Community College and later taught Business Law at Tallahassee Community College. In 1997, Dorothy retired as the Assistant Attorney General for the State of Florida. Dorothy Hawks career accomplishments and experience was vast, but her true legacy was found in her family which she poured into. More importantly, she poured out the heritage of faith in Jesus Christ as her Savior. Her desire was for all to come to a saving knowledge of Jesus and to put their full trust in Him.

Survivors include her husband, Ronald Emrick Hawks; children, Erik Eugene Hawks (Victoria), Diedre “Didi” Ann Hawks Johnson (Keith), Johanna Rei Hawks Feldman (Matt), Anita Bess Hawks Henley (Mark) and Ariel Bethany Hawks Feldman (Ben); grandchildren, Aubry Karin Baird (Jordan), Beau Clayton Hawks (Kim), Peyton Faye-Ann Hawks, Joshua Caleb Johnson, Nathan Taylor Johnson, Jacob Daniel Johnson, Josi Grace Johnson, Lydia Ann Henley, William Hawk Henley, Kaylah Elise Feldman, Sydnei Noelle Feldman, Emma Mae Feldman, Adaline Leigh Feldman, Isaac Matthew Feldman and Alexander Bonelli Hawks. Her brothers, James D. Hamilton, William D. Hamilton and Edward E. Hamilton, also survive.
