Mrs. Doris Dorsett Degraffenreidt was born April 13, 1941 in SILER CITY, NC to the late James Dorsett and Sarah Jane “Janie” Brooks.  Three children came from the union, James “Peter Rabbit” Dorsett, Kelly Dorsett, and Doris.  In her youth she attended Chatham county Training School and was a member of First Missionary Baptist Church where she sang in the choir.  

As the matriarch of the family she was a pilar of strength.  Doris loved her children and took more joy in her grandchildren. Anyone who knew here can attest that no topic or issue would stay burdensome because a joke or a side remark would soon follow, always causing contagious laughter.  She was a beautiful, glamorous women, donning her infamous pink attire, red lipstick, and her honey blonde hair all the way until the end.

She retired as a cook from Brownie-Lu’s.

Doris peacefully entered into eternal rest on November 10, 2022 at her home.  She was preceded in death by her brothers James and Kelly, her husband, Harold Dean Degraffenreidt, and her son Scottie Drake Degraffenreidt.  To continue her legacy and honor her memory she leaves behind her children: Stephanie Degraffenredit (Kevin DeSouza) of Philadelphia, PA, Annette Degraffenreidt of Pleasantville, NJ, Phyllis Garland (Kenneth Garland) Atlantic City, NJ, Harold Dean Degraffenreidt Jr. of Atlantic City, NJ, Donna Degraffenreidt of Greensboro, NC Micheal Degraffenreidt of Atlantic City, NJ Charles Degraffenreidt of SILER CITY, NC, Shaniquia Degraffenreidt (Lawrence Smalls) of Cary, NC, 15 grandchildren and a host of great-grands, and great -great-grands that will truly miss her.
