Mrs. Dean “Miss Dee” Parrish Phipps, age 87, of Lanett went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, January 22, 2017.

Mrs. Phipps was the youngest child born to Mitchell and Nannie Lee Carson Parrish.  She was born on December 9, 1929 in Wadley, Alabama.

She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Eules, Hulon, and Paul Parrish; three sisters, Ava Bennett, Grace Brazil, and Christine Lane.

“Miss Dee” was known to many in the Valley as “the bicycle lady” because she repaired bikes for many children and adults for several years.  She enjoyed helping others, giving to help someone in need, and just loving people like Christ would!

She was an avid Auburn University fan.   She was a charter member of the Westside Baptist Church in Lanett.

She is survived by her children, Nancy Gauntt, Lanett, Kenneth (Jan) Phipps, LaGrange, GA., Lou Ann (Mark) Raughton, Montgomery; grandchildren, Jacob Gauntt, Lanett, Matthew (Lindsey) Raughton, Montgomery, Amanda (Charlie) Warner, Montgomery, Haley Phipps, LaGrange, GA.; great-grandchildren, Dozier Warner, Matthew Gauntt, Jackson Raughton, and Kate Olive Warner.

Her family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to Donna Hughes and her staff at John Knox Manor for the exceptional care given and shown to Mrs. Phipps, while at John Knox Manor.
