Carolyn Toole McLeod (Spears) devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother embarked on her eternal journey in the arms of her Lord and Savior on 1/31/2022 at the age of 87. She was born in Chipley Florida, 12/26/1934 to Ozie & Mary “Doshie” Toole.
She graduated from Washington County High School in 1952. Carolyn obtained a teaching scholarship to Florida State University graduating in 1961. She was a dedicated student and teacher. She taught at various schools in Leon County 3 years then continued her teaching career in Thomas County at Garrison-Pilcher Elementary for 31 yrs. retiring in 1994. She was one of eight children, 3rd from the youngest. Carolyn was an avid ballroom dancer frequenting Tallahassee Senior Center where she waltzed with her soulmate Lewis Spears, husband of 18 wonderful years. She loved to sew & work in her garden while watching hummingbirds feed and fly on her properties.
She is remembered for her God-fearing, sweet loving soul and highly regarded caring personality. Her distinctive soothing voice will always be cherished by all. She is survived by her children, Sherri Green of Florida, LeAnne Short and husband Greg of Georgia & John McLeod (Robert) of Florida, 5 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, sister Rena Beard and brothers Buddy & Tommy. Preceded in death by her cherished husband Lewis Spears, her loving son Dennis Green and sisters Inez & Louise.
