Bonnie L. Peppers Montgomery traded life on earth for eternal life with the Lord Jesus Christ on Saturday, February 15, 2020.
Bonnie was born to Guy Peppers, Sr. and Martha Bell Henderson Peppers on February 22, 1934, the second of seven children.
Bonnie was a homemaker for most of her life, but that hardly describes how her family and friends remember her. She demonstrated love and encouragement to all that she met and welcomed into her home. Bonnie graduated from Lyerly High School where she played basketball. In recent years she was a devoted fan of both Trion and Chattooga sports teams that she kept up with their games through The Summerville News and online. She loved tennis as an adult, sharing the courts with friends who loved the sport.
Bonnie was an avid Braves fan. She and her sisters for several years made trips to Braves Spring Training getting pictures made with the players. This was a time of great joy to all the sisters. At home, Bonnie loved to use her hands to craft clothes, crochet, knit, and quilt. She quilted on a large hoop in her lap making several heirloom quilts for her family. She was long-time faithful caregiver for her parents and for her parents-in-law.
Bonnie was a faithful friend, often remembering friends and family with a small gift or card. She preferred to bless others as the Bible instructs us – quietly without fanfare. However, those that knew her best are not restrained from praising her. To her family and closest friends, she is remembered as a true Proverbs 31 woman.
Besides her parents, Bonnie is preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Andy Montgomery; a son, Mark Montgomery; granddaughter, Amanda Early; siblings, L.B. and Betty Cook, Dave and Mary Rhodin, Bob Peppers, and Joyce Montgomery; nephews, Dandee Denson and Andy Peppers.
Bonnie is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, John and Paula Montgomery; a daughter, Vicki Collins, daughters-in-law, Janice Montgomery Sparks and Kathy Montgomery Day; siblings, Sara and Pete Denson, Sam and Marilyn Peppers, Steve and Sandra Peppers; sister-in-law, Joyce Peppers; 7 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; a number of nieces and nephews; and special friend and caregiver, Connie Short.
