Betty Montine Hurst, 81, of Tallahassee, Florida, met her Lord and Savior on the afternoon of Monday, July 12, 2021, at the Big Bend Hospice. Her loving family was by her side as she gained eternal life.
Born in Miami, Florida on February 20, 1940, she was the daughter of James Howard “Pete” Dodson and Grace Montine Morris Dodson, of blessed memory.
An honors graduate of Miami Jackson High School, she moved to Tallahassee in 1969. She worked for several years as a School Bus Driver at North Florida Christian School and later retired from the Leon County School System after 28 years of dedicated service as a School Bus Driver.
She, along with her husband, was a charter member of Morningside Baptist Church, and served as a Sunday School Teacher and Vacation Bible School teacher. She also was a talented piano player.
Her memories will always be cherished by her husband of 62 years, Russell T. Hurst; sons, James Hurst (Jodi) and John Hurst (Jennifer); daughters, Cheryl Cobb (Raymond Karwoski), Kathy Culbertson (Jimmy Simms) and Nancy Perlman (Marc). She is also survived by numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
