Barbara Smith Bell was born June 19, 1935 to Mr. Leroy Smith and Mrs. Tommie North Smith. She was the second born of six daughters. Barbara was proceeded in death by her parents; her husband, Lorenzo Bell; two brothers, Edward Johnson and Eddie Johnson, and five sisters, Juanita Worrill, JoAnn Henderson, Ann Virginia Stanford, Patricia Tigner and Jeannette Lewis; and her first husband Willie James Freeman.
Barbara was affectionally called “Auntie Bobbie” by her many nieces, nephews and friends and “Lil Bob” by others.
Barbara was celebrated as one of the pioneers in Housekeeping in the early days of the Hyatt Hotels and rejoined the Hyatt Family in 1985. During her long and dedicated career in Housekeeping, Barbara made many friends with her charismatic personality and trademarked smile, and retired from the Hyatt Regency Atlanta in 1997.
Barbara leaves to cherish her memories her son, Ronald and his wife, Gwen Freeman; daughter, Renee Smith Jones; grandchildren, Dimario Freeman and Akeira Freeman; and four great grandsons Landon, Ashton, Cruz and Rio.
