Barbara Randall Nettles of Tallahassee, Florida, passed August 29, 2015, at home with her family by her side. Barbara was born February 28, 1941, in St Augustine, Florida, to Giles “Randy” G. and Irene Day Randall. She loved deep sea fishing with her Father and other water sports. She worked summers in St. Augustine as a Red Cross Certified Life Guard for Florida Deaf & Blind School. She attended Ketterlinus High School, where she was a cheerleader and played on the girls’ basketball teams and graduated in 1959. She came to Tallahassee, Florida in 1959 to attend Florida State University. While attending FSU, she met Stanley R. Nettles and they married in 1961. Barbara first worked part time for the Attorney General’s Office in Statutory Revisions’ Section and later full time. She was partnered with attorney Charles “Tom” Henderson to organize the Florida Association of Court Clerks in 1968. A local attorney stated at her retirement dinner in 2007, “Barbara was the best at herding the 67 cats of the association (Florida Court Clerks)”. Barbara was an active member of the Tallahassee BPOE 937 Elkettes and was elected as president and also elected as president of Altrusa Club. She was also an active member of Orange Blossom Circle of the Tallahassee Garden Club. She often worked tirelessly at group fundraising activities for a variety of charities including The Fla. Elks Harry-Anna Crippled Children’s Hospital and Altrusa Scholarship House. Barbara enjoyed cooking, painting, reading and college sports, most especially FSU football, baseball and basketball. She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Stanley R. Nettles; daughter Marsha Studdard (Tracy Studdard); daughter, Cassandra Nettles; granddaughters Heather and Nicole Studdard; great-grandchildren Sydney and Jamison in St. Augustine; a niece Debbie Spicer Bennett (Tommy Bennett).
