Barbara Anne Mills, 78, a long time resident of Tallahassee, passed away at her home on July 19, 2019, with her loving family by her side. She was born in Sims, Illinois on May 19, 1941, before residing in Tallahassee for 72+ years with her loving husband Jimmy Mills.
Her life’s joy was Family. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. A dedicated homemaker, she was there every day to get her two children up and get them to school, then pick them up and head home to start dinner. She was the best mom you could ever ask for. After raising her two children, she kept her grandsons after school and attended all events, whatever was needed for them.
Later on she was caregiver for her mother with Alzheimer’s and took care of her husband. She was always doing for others. She was a fighter, having battled Melanoma for 25+ years. At times the doctors didn’t think the treatments/radiation would work, but, she fought and it worked. She was a six time survivor.
This time she may have lost the battle, but she won the war. Barbara is preceded in death by her parents, Lloyd Chester and Mary Elizabeth Payne Kimbrough; her husband, James Gerald Mills; and siblings, Rex Kimbrough, Sr., Dora Clark, John Kimbrough, June Shirley, Billy Gene Kimbrough, Lloyd Chester Kimbrough, Jr. and Tommy Lee Kimbrough. She is survived by her children, James R. Mills and Sondra Darnell; grandchildren, James T. (Bess).
