Audrey Cox Gainous, 89, a Tallahassee native, peacefully passed in the loving arms of Jesus on Thursday, April 6, 2017, at the Big Bend Hospice House, while surrounded by her family. The only child of Emory S. and Myrtle Maddox Cox, she was born December 27, 1927, in Tallahassee, Florida. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Edwin H. Gainous. She was a 1945 graduate of Leon High School and retired after 33 years from the State of Florida as a Purchasing Agent. During her life, she was a member of First Baptist Church and later attended Forest Heights Baptist Church. She enjoyed gardening, the beach and most importantly, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Survivors include her children, Van Gainous, Linda Gainous, Tim Gainous and Mark (Sherry) Gainous; grandchildren, Zachary Gainous, Megan (Michael) Paluszek, Brooke Taylor, Lacy Gainous, Sarah Shiver and Beth Shiver. She is also survived by two great-grandchildren, Henry Paluszek and Maddox Weber.
