Mrs. Anne Hawkins Whipple, age 93, of West Point, Georgia passed away at her residence on Sunday, October 16, 2016.
Mrs. Whipple was born on November 28, 1922 in Union, South Carolina to the late Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Hawkins. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, John Whipple; her grandson, Jay Morrison; four brothers; three sisters.
Mrs. Whipple was a devoted mother and wife. She worked in West Point as an Administrative Assistant at New York Life Insurance Company and also at the Boy Scouts of America. She was a member of the West Point Garden Club and The Music Study Club. She was a dedicated Christian and member of the West Point First United Methodist Church of West Point, Georgia, where she served as the Church Secretary, Sunday School Teacher, and member of the Adult Fellowship Group. She and her husband, John, distributed Worship Tapes as a part of the Church Tape Ministry and also helped with the Meals on Wheels Program. A casserole or a smile shared with friends and family was only a small part of her caring and giving Spirit.
She is survived by her children, Bill (Joleen) Whipple, Greenville, South Carolina, Cheryl (Jamie) Morrison, West Point, Georgia; grandchildren, Sarah (Jaime) Marchbanks, Sam (Katie) Whipple, Shelley Whipple, John (Brittany) Morrison, and Jenna (Lane) Perry; great grandchildren, Bailey Morrison, Kennady Perry, James Marchbanks, Jr.; numerous nieces and nephews; caregivers, Jelaine Roberts, Sarah Murphy, and LaChic Truitt; loving caregiver and friend, Kathye Scott.
