Willie Louis Haywood was born on July 31, 1941, in Waverly, Georgia to Raymond Haywood ,Sr. & Sally Beatrice Haywood, both of whom preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by two sons, Willie Haywood , Jr., and Tony Giles.  Willie departed this life on Sunday, December 12, 2021, at Southeast Georgia Health Systems.

Willie attended Duval County’s local schools, and went on to graduate from New Stanton Senior High School, class of 1959. Upon graduation, Willie attended Edward Waters College of Jacksonville, Florida. 

Following college, Willie became a self-employed trucker for Shamrock Moving Company.  He later moved to Portland, Oregon, and was employed by Cohn Brothers, and later Silver Eagle Trucking Company where he retired in 2000. 

Willie relocated to Waverly, Georgia in 2000, joined Mt.

Willie loved life. He was a stylish dresser, loved dancing, bowling, fishing, and especially golfing. He considered himself a pretty good cook, and for several years, until his health started declining, held a Memorial Day weekend cookout for the community.

Willie leaves to cherish his memories, nine siblings: Raymond Haywood, Jr. (Cornelia), Mary H. Hand, James Haywood (Dorothy), Ann M. Hart (Willie), Pauline V. Haywood, Linda H. Johnson (Fred), Christinea H. Beaty (Tom), Wanda E. Haywood, and Brenda F. Haywood Morris (Michael), 10 grandchildren, Goddaughter, Bobbie Simmons, Vancouver, Washington, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, classmates, and devoted friends: Robert (Slim) Simmons, Portland, Oregon, William & Gloria Sams, Jacksonville, Florida, Willie (Stu) Hart, Decatur, Georgia, Alex Smith, Jacksonville, Florida, Rodney Howard, Brunswick, GA and Gregory Reed, Waverly, Georgia.
