Sunny Flowers, age 92, of Monroe, MI, he was called from our midst on Sunday November 16, 2014 at Brighton Gardens in Belleville, MI. Sun was born January 22, 1922 in Jackson, Mississippi, while working as an elevator operator in Jackson he was drafted into the 92nd Infantry Division of the U.S.Army (known as the Buffalos) in 1942. He fought in the invasion of Italy in World War II and was awarded 3 medals. After his discharge in 1947 he met Mary Beamon (whom he affectionately referred to as “Chick-a-dee”) and they wed on May 10, 1948 in Water Valley, MS. They moved to Monroe, MI where Sun worked and retired from Ford Motor Co. after 27 years. Sun was baptized on September 22, 1984 and was a faithful member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church until he became ill. He was respected and loved by all who knew him, he loved to spend his time watching sports, playing bingo, playing his organ and listening to Christian hymns. Sun was preceded in death by his wife Mary Flowers. He is survived by his nephews and nieces Robert (Allison) Smith, Kahn (Latasha) Davison, Herman (Barbara) Lee, 2 nieces and 3 nephews. His buddies; Cranston and Valeria Campbell and a host of friends.
