Roy Lee Grimes, 67, of Monticello, Florida, passed away on Saturday, May 23, 2020, at the Big Bend Hospice House.
A son of the late Leroy and Alice Lucille Arnold Grimes, he was born in Rising Sun, Maryland on May 19, 1953, but grew up in the Sarasota, Florida area. In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by a brother, Carl Grimes.
He was a heavy equipment operator, working in land clearing. He was well known throughout central Florida as a talented race car driver and swamp buggy racer. In addition to his racing, he enjoyed air boating, hunting and fishing.
His memories will be cherished by his faithful and loving companion of over 37 years, Donna Catalano; children, Roy Lee Grimes, Jr. (wife, Sherrie), Marcy Lorraine Grimes, Eric Wayne Grimes, James William Ferrell (fiancé, Kelli Coffey) and Anthony Thomas Grimes (wife, Monica); grandchildren, Joseph Brock Grimes, Christina Hay, Brandon Walker, Adrian Davis, Alora Davis, Alana Davis and Korey Ferrell; great-grandchildren, Kaylee Smith and Nicholas Smith; siblings, Jerry Wilson, Sandy Lydecker, Mary Arndt and William Grimes; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
