Roland Christopher Thompson, known to his family as Chris/Deezy, was born April 10, 1984 in Gary, IN. Thanks to his birth parents, Arlene Toney and Booker Howard Jr. and his adopted parents Marie and Joseph Thompson, he was blessed 16 siblings. Alongside them and several cousins, nieces, and nephews, Roland thoroughly enjoyed his childhood. As they grew together, many looked up to him as their role model and someone they could lean on in their time of need.
Roland attended Gary public schools where he loved to be involved, make his friends laugh, and play basketball. In 2000,he went on to join the Ohio Job Corps where he became a certified welder and obtained his GED. Although, he loved welding in Ohio, the love for his newborn daughter A’lexis was stronger. In 2002, he brought his talents back to Gary, IN where he could be closer to her. Roland was a loving family man and was always there when his mother, siblings, family, and friends needed him. Although, he truly loved being near his family in Detroit, MI and Gary, IN, he moved to Indianapolis, IN in 2005 where he ultimately grew his family and lived his adult life.
He went on to have 4 more children prior to marrying Britney (Rowlett) Thompson in 2019 whom he later had one child in common. During this time, he enjoyed providing for his familyat Flutes Inc. where he grew into leadership in the stacking area.Roland loved family time, chilling, playing/watching basketball, taking selfies, and cracking jokes. Sadly, he was cruelly taken away from his family on August 10, 2022 in Indianapolis, IN.
Roland was preceded in death by his parents Arlene Toney, Booker Howard Jr., Marie and Joseph Thompson. Grandparents, Albert and Alberta Toney. Brothers Edward Lomax, Booker Howard III, Lelon Lomax, Maurice Battle Jr.
He will continue to be loved and cherished by his children A’lexis Smith, Christopher Thompson, Seven Thompson, Al Thompson, Ar Thompson, and Am Thompson. Grandmother Cora Harris and siblings Kim Jones, Calvin Kyles, Corey Toney, Lisa Toney, Ashley Tavorn, Edward Tavorn, Alberta Battle, Deborah Strong, Lisa and Tonya Thompson, Michael Toney, Derrick Toney, Eugene Collyear, Julius Linson, Joseph and Theodore Thompson, and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, aunts, and uncles.
