Robert L. “Bobby” Lewis, 82, of Salem, Illinois passed away March 14, 2020 at his home, with his caring family by his side. Born September 25, 1937 in Omega, Illinois, he was the son of Halice D. and Sophia (McCully) Lewis who preceded him in death.

He was owner-operator of Lewis Horse Farm in Salem, and, inducted into the Horsman’s Hall of Fame. He married Doris I. Wilkins, March 6, 1959 in Mt. Vernon, Illinois and she survives.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter Indea Leigh Tate and husband Tom of Salem, along with grandchildren Josh Tate and wife Kelsey of Salem, Jenna Tate of Salem, and Jacob Tate and wife Kayla of Carlyle. Also three great grandchildren, Riley, Emma and Griffin Tate.

Also left to mourn his passing is a sister-in-law, Lila Lewis of Salem, IL. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandson, Jordan Thomas Tate (1984), and siblings Chester L. Lewis, Darwin “Red” Lewis, Jeannie McGee and Kay Lewis.
