Richard R. Rizzuti, age 62, a long time resident of Bethany and most recently of Milford, husband of Carla Greenwald Rizzuti, passed away peacefully at home on October 6, 2011 surrounded by his loving family. He left as he had always lived; with unwavering strength and great dignity.
Born on November 23, 1948 in New Haven, he was the son of Josephine Bove Rizzuti of West Haven and the late Richard R. Rizzuti. He had a proud career as a Lieutenant with the Connecticut State Police. After retiring, he worked at the Home Depot in Orange where he continued to do what he loved most, helping people. He was one of the great ones; a gem, generous, handsome, humble. He was a selfless pillar of integrity who could and would do anything for anyone. We will remember our loving, kind and devoted husband, father and grandfather, advisor and friend. He has fondly touched and influenced the lives of so many who mourn his loss.
In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by two adoring children. He leaves his daughter Crista Rizzuti of Westport, his son Richard D. Rizzuti and wife Danielle of Bethany. He has six cherished grandchildren, Jake, Carsyn, Julia and Sophia Rizzuti and Mimi and Nicholas Schindler. We are especially grateful to their father Dr. Joseph Schindler, who worked tirelessly to manage his care. He also leaves his sister Judith Gargiulo of Milford and many nieces and nephews.
