Richard Emile Parent, age 84, longtime resident of Milford and beloved husband to Hilda Christine Rowett Parent, passed away on Tuesday, September 04, 2012 at Milford Hospital. Born on June 16, 1928 in Southbridge, MA, he was the son of the late Emile and Rita Richards Parent. Richard served with great pride and honor in the US Navy during WWII and the Korean Conflict. Prior to his retirement, Richard was Professor Emeritus in Chemistry at Housatonic Community College.
He is survived by his daughters, Elizabeth Braitsch (Ted) of FL; Barbara Plasky (Robert) of Milford; Pamela O’Flynn (Timothy) of Milford; sons, John Parent (Elaine) of IL; Robert Parent of Norwich; ten cherished grandchildren, three adoring great grandchildren who lovingly referred to Richard as “Grandpa the Great”; a step-granddaughter and a step great-granddaughter. Also he is survived by his siblings, Lucille Proulx of MA; Pauline Parent of FL; Anita Parent of MA; Elaine Curran (Jack) of Norwich; and many loving nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews as well as several great grandnieces and grandnephews. He was predeceased by his son, James, brothers Paul and George Parent, and his beloved first wife Patricia Rowett Parent.
