Richard was born August 13, 1936 in High Gate, Vermont son of the late Gordon and Ida (Clapper) Johnson. He was raised and attended schools in Vermont and moved to Connecticut in 1963. He had worked at Plume and Atwood and for local construction companies for many years. He served honorably in the United States Army, was a life member of the Liederkranz, was an avid hunter and fisherman and was active for many years in many local men’s softball leagues.
In addition to his wife he is survived by two sons, Richard and John Johnson; two step sons, Jeffrey Rinaldi and Mark Dickey; three granddaughters and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son Michael Johnson and two brothers, Gordon and Robert Johnson.
