Mr. Cyr was born September 25, 1917 in St. John, ME a son of the late Olivier and Sadie (Thibodeau) Cyr.  He was the fourth of fifteen children, was educated in Ft. Kent schools and attended Post College in Waterbury.  He enlisted in the US Army in 1935 and served 3 years during peacetime and was honorably discharged in 1938.  He re-enlisted at the outbreak of World War II and served in the European Theatre.  He served in North Africa, Italy and France.  He often served as a translator due to his fluency in French.  He was honorably discharged at the end of the war as a Sergeant 1st Class.

He married his wife on January 5, 1946 at ST.

Besides his wife he leaves a son, Leonard Cyr and his wife Charlotte of Watertown; a daughter, Norma McGrath and her husband James P, II of Prospect; a grandson, James J. McGrath, II of Prospect; a sister, Therese Young of Paradise, CA; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.  Mr. Cyr enjoyed time spent with his grandson, children, animals and many acquaintances.  He was the family handyman and a successful gardener for years.  He will be missed by all.
