Michael Gordon McGee, 78, of Crawfordville, Florida, passed away on Friday, October 16, 2020. Born in Buffalo, New York on September 28, 1942, he was the only son of the late James Gordon McGee and Grace Evangeline Wise McGee.
He is also preceded in death by his companion of 38 years, Johnnie Ruth Peacock. He is survived by his sisters, Sharon Lea Riley and Grace “Molly” Jardine Petroskey; nieces and nephews, Dominique Wyatt (husband, Leo), Elizabeth Hause (husband, Neil), Michael Petroskey (wife, Elizabeth) and Abigail McQuaide Hall; great-nieces and great-nephews, Jesse Hall (wife, Catherine), Alaina Hall, Jakob Hall, Gregory Romanowicz, Benjamin Romanowicz, James Petroskey (wife, Amy), Thomas Petroskey, Katherine Petroskey, George Hause and Harrison Hause. He also became grandfather to Johnnie Ruth’s grandson, Eric McCord; his brother, Devin Cochran; and close friend to their mother, Eva McCord.
He served in the US Navy aboard the USS Independence CVA-62 in 1962 and worked in maintenance for the University of Florida, enjoyed watching the Miami Hurricanes and Michigan State, was an avid reader and rummy player, and enjoyed visiting casinos in Dothan and Biloxi. He also loved going to the Sky Box Bar and Grill and became close friends with Leonard Reeves, his sister, Janet Miller; and their families.
