Max Clifford West, 92, of Tallahassee, Florida, passed away on Tuesday, November 24, 2020. Born in Lumberton, North Carolina on October 24, 1928, he was a son of the late George Peter West and Nora Jane Norris West, of blessed memory.
He is also preceded in death by a sister, Grace Wilson. Following his service in the US Army Air Corps, where he served as a radio-communications technician and aircraft mechanic, he went to work for Eastern Airlines, where he gained his pilot’s wings. He also worked as a commercial pilot for Winn-Dixie Food Stores, Peninsular Life Insurance, Airlift International, the State of Florida, and later became the first Bureau Chief for the Florida Department of Aviation and retired in 2000 after almost 30 years of service.
He is survived by his wife, Marceline DeVeaux Parrish West; daughter, Rebecca Heller (husband, Ken); grandchildren, Lauriann Tran (husband, Scott), Kaileigh Miles (husband, James) and Scot Bartlebaugh (wife, Logan); great-grandchildren, Cameron Cooper, Elise Miles, Julian Miles, Juniper Bartlebaugh and Nolan Bartlebaugh; brother, Lee West; as well as several nieces and nephews.
