Maurice Laws, Jr., 67, of Tallahassee, peacefully passed in the gates of Heaven on Sunday, October 30, 2016, while surrounded by his loving family.

A son of the late Maurice Laws, Sr. and the late Julia Denton Laws, he was born January 30, 1949, in Chicago, Illinois. Following his faithful service in the US Army, he became employed with the Tallahassee Police Department, retiring as a Sergeant after 26 years of service. He then worked with the US Marshalls for 12 years at the US Courthouse in Tallahassee.

A devoted member at Christian Heritage Church, he enjoyed bowling, travelling, as well as serving his community. Above all, he was a loving family man.

Cherishing his memories include his wife of 35 years, Angela Smith Laws; children, Martin (Georgianna) Laws, of Augusta, GA, Derrick (Catherine) Yates, of Plantation, FL and Marcia Laws, of Tallahassee; grandchildren, Skylar Yates, of Plantation, FL, Martin Alexander Laws, of Augusta, and Camden Roebuck of Tallahassee; siblings, Christi (Trussie) Goldston, Theresa Laws and Sonya (Michael) Laws-Price, all of Chicago, IL. He is also survived by god-daughters, Jesseka Forbes and Aubrianna Ash, as well as many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
