Marvin Keith “Fats” Colbert was born on October 28, 1953, in Indianapolis, Indiana. He was the son of the late Charles Colbert and Norma E. Minter.
Marvin completed his primary and secondary education in the Indianapolis Public School System. He was an all-star football player while in high school. He graduated with the class of 1972 from Arsenal Technical High School.
On August 17, 1986, Marvin was united in Holy Matrimony with Renée J. Christie. Their union spanned the years and she remained his loving wife until his death.
Marvin was affectionately known as “Fats” to his many friends. He was truly the life and energy of every party. He was an avid skater. He was a man of many talents that included, roller skating, swimming, gambling and hustling. Fats was THE man in the streets.
Fats was also an astute business man who owned several businesses and night clubs throughout his life time. He was caring and compassionate about the needs of others. He helped everybody who needed his help. He loved people and loved being the center of attention. He was quite a jokester and loved making people laugh. He could keep you laughing for hours! He was not a perfect man, he had many flaws, but he was a good provider.
Marvin Keith “Fats” Colbert departed this life on September 6, 2021, at the age of sixty-seven years ten months and nine days. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Renée J. Christie (Colbert); daughters, Summer R. Christie and Lakeita S. Colbert; grandchildren, Armani R. Bridgewater, Dwaine C. Colbert, Jaysha Luckett, Janiya Luckett; great granddaughter, Kaylee Montgomery; brothers, Charles Colbert, Jr.
