Mr. Lewis Haywood, age 68 of 310 Commerce Drive, Sanford, NC passed on Saturday, July 25, 2009 at Liberty Commons Health and Rehab Center, Sanford, NC.
Lewis Allen Haywood was born to C.Q. & Gertrude Watson Haywood on January 7, 1941 in Lee County, N.C.
Lewis was a graduate of W.B. Wicker School. He attended Howard University in Washington, D.C Lewis served in the U.S. Army from 1959 to 1963. He has one child, Marcus Alton Haywood of Germantown, Maryland. Marcus and his wife Gayle Haywood have one child Camille Mena Haywood.
Lewis Haywood was one of the Best Barbers in Sanford from 1964 till January, 2008. Through his barbering he made many friends and because of his pampering nature he had lifelong clients. He was also an artist, whose paintings could have graced the walls of any Art Museum. Lewis was a wonderful baker and chef, and according to his son Marcus, he could really doctor up Kool-Aid with all kinds of fruits and flavors. He’s been a member of First Calvary Baptist Church since the 1970’s. He will be remembered fondly by both his family and friends.
Lewis is survived by one son, Marcus Haywood (Gayle) and one grandchild Camille Mena Haywood and a host of relatives and friends.
