Mr. Joseph V. Beler, Jr, age 64, beloved husband of Melissa Bonessi Beler, passed away on Sunday, June 6, 2010 at Yale New Haven Hospital. Son of Kay Simich Beler and the late Joseph V. Beler, Sr., he was born on January 8, 1946 in Manhattan, NY. Joe served with pride and honor in the US Air Force during the Vietnam Era.
Joe was a retired teacher and coach for the Milford Board of Education. He coached several sports for Milford Academy, Foran and Notre Dame High School but was legendary as the football coach for the Jonathan Law Lawmen. “I started my football career at Jonathan Law as a player, and now I am finishing it here as a coach and a lawmen.” His love and passion for sports inspired and touched many students throughout his career and he will be greatly missed.
In addition to his wife and mother, survivors include four cherished children, Crystal Beam and her husband Greg of Edmond, OK, Joseph V. Beler, III of West Haven, Josh Beler and his wife Hilary of Monterey, CA. and Heather Beler of Manhattan and two precious grandchildren, Jade Beam and Jacob Beler. He is also survived by a brother Michael Beler, sister Carol Mansfield and several nieces and nephews.
