Mr. Joseph Peter “Mr. Joe” Goschy, of Huguley, Alabama, passed away due to post-surgical complications on July 3, 2017 at the East Alabama Medical Center in Opelika, Alabama.
He was born April 10, 1938 in Chicago, IL.
He was an accomplished lithographer, receiving numerous awards at the local and national levels for his work. He was an avid Boy Scout, and took great pride in working at Boy Scouts of America camps as a young man. Additionally, he spent many years volunteering as a clown and mentor with various organizations. Joe enjoyed several years of farming in Wisconsin, where he earned accolades for produce and livestock. He made multiple trips to the Grand Ole Opry in his travels. Joe documented many of his adventures in his published memoir “Mr. Joe’s Popcorn Memories”. He was also generous to a multitude of charities including Holy Family Catholic Church.
Joe is survived by his children, Juliana “Julie” Lee Goschy-Stalions (husband, Phillip), James “Jim” Joseph Goschy, Joseph “Joe” Paul Goschy, Jorjean Elizabeth Nuebel (husband, Jeffery); and his grandchildren Nicholas “Nick” James Abston Goschy, Mary Elizabeth Goschy Schoenberg, Eliana Grace Goschy Schoenberg, and Ariel Fern Goschy.
He was preceded by his parents John (of Hungary) and Julianna Goschy (of Chicago), and his brother John Goschy, Jr. (of Missouri). He was also preceded by his second wife Darlene. He remained very close with his step-son, Richard “Rick” Francis O’Neal, and his children Aiden Richard O’Neal and Hailey Marie Crump.
Friends and family of Mr. Joe are welcome to join in community to celebrate his life at an open house memorial at his residence, 6219 16th St. SW (Tara Hills), Lanett, AL on Sunday, July 9, 2017 from 4:00 EDT to 8:00PM EDT.
