Jerry Lee Ferguson was born on July 11, 1948 in Huntsville, AL to Homer Francis and Hattie Isabelle Ferguson, both of whom preceded him in death. He grew up in Hazel Green, AL and graduated from Hazel Green High School in 1966.
After graduation he started work at South Central Bell until his retirement in 2000 (from BellSouth) with 34 years service. However, his true passion was for farming, where he grew crops and tended to his herd of Black Angus cattle on the property he grew up on as a boy. He got immense enjoyment watching his baby calves running and playing in the pasture. He worked alongside his brother Mike Ferguson and nephew Trevor Ferguson on the farm, both of whom were a tremendous help in his final months. He also loved sitting with his Boston Terrier dogs Tiger and Xena in his recliner.
He was preceded in death by his other dogs Buddy, Big Boy, and Lil’ Missy. Jerry passed away on May 27, 2014 surrounded by his family.
He is survived by his wife, Vickie Parker Ferguson; two daughters, Michelle Ferguson Franklin (Chris) and Jenifer Lynn Ferguson; brothers, Michael Wade Ferguson (Natalie) and Stanley Wayne Ferguson; sister, Frances Elaine Cantrell (Dwayne), and many other family and friends.
