James Wesley Smith, 88, of Tallahassee, passed away on Thursday, November 19, 2020, at Pacifica at Woodmont.
He is survived by his wife, Carolyn George Smith; daughter, Stephanie Bartlett (husband, John); son, Stephen Wesley Smith (wife, Cheryl); six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Born in Donora, Pennsylvania on December 29, 1931, he was a son of the late William Chester and Johnnie Ethel Roberts Smith.
He is also preceded in death by a son, Timothy Smith. After serving in the US Army, he later went to work and retired from the Federal Corrections Institute as a Corrections Officer. He was a member of Lafayette Presbyterian Church, where he served as an elder. Woodworking, traveling and spending time with his family were his favorite pastimes.
