Mr. James Rapier Farris, Jr. passed away peacefully at Phoenix at Lake Lanier Assisted Living Facility in Gainesville, GA on Thursday, May 3, 2018. He spent over 40 years teaching and coaching basketball at schools in North Carolina; namely, Morganton City Schools, Garner Consolidated High School, Garner Sr. High School and Shaw University.
He is survived by; spouse, Equilla Hodges Farris; his children, Deborah Taylor, Keith Conley and Phyllis Mance; step-son, Courtney Hodges; along with several grand and great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
