James Munro Phillips, Jr. (87), of Havana, Florida died on June 18th in Tallahassee at Big Bend Hospice House. He was born November 6, 1927, in Chaires, Florida and was a life-long resident of Tallahassee.
Jim graduated from Florida High in 1945 and later obtained his BA and MA Degrees in Psychology from Florida State University. He worked as an Insurance Auditor for the State of Florida Department of Insurance until his retirement. He met and married the love of his life Bette Crawford Phillips in 1973 whom he was devoted to until her death in 1995. Jim had many interests, good friends and was an avid exerciser at the YMCA until recently. He especially enjoyed traveling, music, good food and good conversation.
He maintained many dear friends and will be missed by all. While he had no children of his own, he was loved dearly by many nieces, nephews, cousins and their families: Donna (Michael) Bryan, Tallahassee; Robert (Jennifer) Wallis, London, England; Turner (Diana) Wallis and Laura (Craig) Wakefield, both of Kissimmee, FL; Jim (Nicole) Wallis, Los Angeles, CA; Marshall Wallis, Atlanta, GA; Virginia (Larry) Lawler, West Palm Beach, FL; Terri (Dan) Carver, Dallas, TX; Chris (Tom) Huerter, Omaha; Rev. David (Sherri) Crawford, MacClenney, FL and many more from the Crawford Clan of Florida/South Georgia.
