James Ferrell Staton, 85, of Havana, Florida, peacefully passed into Heaven on Thursday, January 18, 2018, while surrounded by his loving family. A son of the late Emmett S. Staton and Edne E. Reed Staton, he was born in Rome, Georgia on January 30, 1932.
Also preceding him in death is a son and two brothers. He worked in the textile industry and tire manufacturing industry. With honor and courage, he served his country in both the US Navy and US Air Force. He enjoyed working in his yard and also worked at Belleview Middle School for 10 years. Along with his wife, Opal White Staton, he was a member at New Journey Baptist Church. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Charlotte Sanborn (Rick), Brenda Griner (C.B) and Gary Knight; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
