James Bert Peters, 90, of Tallahassee, passed away on Wednesday, November 4, 2020, in Blountstown, Florida. A son of the late Leslie William Peters and Ethel O. Goggins Peters, he was born in Marvel, Alabama on February 10, 1930.
He is also preceded in death by a granddaughter, Nichole Helena Splane; and his siblings, Auburn Warren, Betty Sue Wolfe and Bobbie Jean Gentry. Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Helena Ottum Peters; children, Doris R. West, Michael R. Peters (wife, Annette) and Wayne H. Peters (wife, Linda); grandchildren, Jessica Leigh West, Keri Michelle Macara and Kyle Peters; ten great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.
Following a successful career in the United States Army, he retired after 22 years with the rank of Sergeant First Class. He later retired from the Federal Correction Institute as a Woodworking Machine Operator Foreman.
