Jack Douglas Smith, 62, of Hazel Green, passed away on Wednesday. Mr. Smith was a daddy, granddaddy, son, brother, uncle, and a good, trusted friend.
During high school, he was known as one of the Hazel Green Trojans’ Fantastic Five in the late 1960’s. He was all-county quarterback for many years as well as a member of the Huntsville Quarterback Club. He participated in baseball and basketball and was recognized numerous times in The Huntsville Times. During his adult life, Mr. Smith loved watching SEC football and major league baseball.
He worked all of his adult life as an upholsterer and was sought after by high end customers for his quality workmanship.
Mr. Smith accepted Christ as his personal savior and was baptized by his son, Jordan.
He was preceded in death by his father, Douglas Smith; Two brothers: Bobby and John Smith;
He is survived by two children: Jennifer (Rodney) Miller, Jordan (Adriana) Smith, and their mother, Sandra Smith; His grandchildren: Kendall and Jake; His mother, Laura Smith; Sister: Anita (Donny) Donovan; Brother: Danny Smith; a host of nephews, nieces, great-nieces and nephews, friends, and neighbors.
