Jack D. Scott, Sr., 85, of Sandoval, passed away Saturday, March 30, 2019 at SSM Health Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon. He was born October 23, 1933 in Centralia, son of James E. Scott and Myrtle M. (Boatwright) Scott.
He married Shirley Arnold on March 6, 1954 and she survives in Sandoval. In addition to his wife of 65 years, Shirley Scott of Sandoval, he is also survived by four children: Jack D. Scott, Jr. and wife Joyce of Mt. Vernon, Terry Scott and wife Millie of Sandoval, Vicki S. Norton and husband Tony of Columbia, IL and Angela K. Durham and husband Lance of Spring Hill, KS; four grandchildren: Josh Runion, Amanda Jourdan, Katie Durham, and Logan Durham; two step-grandchildren: Kristina Brown and Melissa Keip; two great-grandchildren: Hayden Runion and Olivia Runion; 9 step-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother: Gene Scott and a sister: Kathleen Chopores. Jack graduated from Centralia Township High School Class of 1951. Jack served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Japan after the Korean War. He worked for the Burlington Northern Railroad for 30 years and later retired. After retiring he worked at the Salem DMV for several years and Bailiff at the Marion County Courthouse. Jack was a 50-year member and Past Master of the Sandoval Masonic Lodge 932.
He was also a member of the American Federation of Musicians and Centralia American Legion Post 446. He also was a member of the Bethel Baptist Church in Odin. He was the Band Leader of the “Jack Scott Orchestra” for 45 plus years. His greatest enjoyment was spending time with his family and friends.
