Howard William “Mik” Tranor, 79, a retiree from the State of Florida, passed away Friday, January 15, 2016, in Tallahassee, surrounded by his family. He was born September 17, 1936, in Cincinnati, Ohio, to the now late Howard Clyde Tranor and Helen McFarland Tranor.
He was also preceded in death by his loving wife of 48 years, Shirley Ann Grabel Tranor, and a grandson, Joshua Roskovich. A faithful parishioner at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, he also served in the United States Air Force. He was very active in the Civil Rights Movement and had a very generous and giving spirit. He volunteered with the American Red Cross and was an active blood donor. He organized the first annual Thanksgiving dinner for the homeless at Co-Cathedral of St. Thomas More. Family and his community were the center of his life.
Surviving are his children, Howard “Mick” and Judy Tranor, Sean Tranor, Valerie and Charles “Chuck” Franklin, Victoria “Vikki” and John Woodward; grandchildren, Holly and David Lavin, Heather and Travis Larson, Katarina Kirkpatrick, Shanneen Kirkpatrick, James Kirkpatrick, Howard Michael Tranor, Victoria Tranor, Daniel Tranor; six great-grandchildren; four brothers and one sister.
