Herman Lewis “Bud” Hoppe, 86, of Tallahassee, passed away November 18, 2016.

A son of the late Herman Julius and Irene Lewis Hoppe, he was born May 19, 1930, in Baltimore, Maryland. He is also preceded in death by a brother, Wilbur Hoppe.

Bud served in the US Air Force, and later owned and operated an automotive repair business, where he was one of the first technicians to become ASE Certified in all disciplines. He was a past President of the Florida Automotive Service Council, and named the NAPA Technician of the Year in 1985.

Bud was a faithful parishioner at St. Louis Catholic Church, where he was a Fourth Degree Knight with the Knights of Columbus. He was a founder and member of Tallahassee Area Catholic Committee On Scouting, and a Boy Scout Leader. Additionally, he was past President of TAL-KUG Computer Club, and found time to volunteer with AARP Tax Aide.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Martyne Hoppe; children, Mark Hoppe, Michael Hoppe, Martyne Bell, Alan Hoppe, Holly Garman, Barbara Morgan, Jonn Hoppe and their spouses; 15 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings, Thomas Jay Hoppe, Dorothy Bumbalough and Roger Neil Hoppe.
